Well, I'm quite relieved that it at last I seems I have completed the majority of all that work. Of course, there truly is no rest for the weary. As soon as I finish one project, another simply takes it's place...
Ahh, what I wouldn't give for a vacation!

My. I can't believe Fullmetal almost missed work completely today. He was lucky that I just happened to stop in after checking the guards around the dorm. He really must not have very much stamina yet, for him to be so worn out.
Anyway, because of that little distraction, Fullmetal and I were both late to work. Unfortunately, a large stack of paperwork had already built up by the time I got there, and I had to stay late to finish. Oh well. I suppose that's what I get for being late in the morning.

Well, I am now officially Brigadier General Roy Mustang. A rather impressive title, I must say. The ceremony seemed to drag on a bit, although I suppose it could have been worse. It's not as bad as you might think to spend a considerably long time listening to various esteemed people praise you for your accomplishments. It was actually rather enjoyable, I think.
The reception afterward was also nice. I must say it was quite considerate of Captain Hawkeye and Fullmetal's mechanic to bake a cake. Thank you. It was very good. |

Well, you'd think that a diplomat returning from a foreign country would have an easier time getting over the boarder, but no. It took a very long time for me to pass all of they're ridiculous security checks. That, added to the fact that I'm positively exhausted from the trip back, leaves me in no mood to do much of anything. However, I've just received word that I'm to present to the Fuhrer and the rest of the Cabinet my findings.
I only just got back a few hours ago and they're already making me go back to work. It seems I'll never get off the line...although, after I'm through with the big shots, I'll have a chance to check up on Fullmetal and Hawkeye. Hopefully everything went smoothly while I was away...
Speaking of which, my trip went well. I stayed in the palace and was able to meet all of the heads of the prominent families of Xing, as well as all of the Emperor's children and extended family. Everyone was very hospitable, and the food was delicious. While I was staying at the palace, I had an interpreter and still managed to pick up a little Xingese. It's a very interesting language, actually.
I also acquired several books on Rentanjutsu. If I can find a skilled translator, I'll give them to the Elrics. Perhaps there are some clues they need in the oriental from of alchemy.
Well, this entry is making my trip sound as though I were on a vacation, but it's quite the contrary. The main issue that seemed to be at stake was the Emperor's failing health and the issue of his next successor. I can't say much of what I worked on, although I did make some very good progress. It appears that as of now, that everything is going very favorably for Amestris. The Fuhrer will be pleased, I believe.

Well. It looks like this will be my last entry for quit a while. I've been so busy with paperwork for this trip that I haven't really had much time to update it...
Anyway, I've been selected to go on a diplomatic mission to Xing. I'll be gone for as long as a month, starting tomorrow. I've left the Major in charge.
To Hawkeye: Please help Fullmetal get used to things. I know everything will be fine with you there to aid him.

Still no word from Fullmetal. It's been almost three weeks. I wonder if he's doing alright...
Not that it matters. Things are progressing smoothly enough without him, as they always have.

It looks like I may be forced to leave on military business soon... I hope he's back before I leave... but only because it seems it might be difficult to run the office with so many people out.

Hmmm...and now it seems that the first lieutenant has a journal as well.
Fullmetal has yet to return, and I haven't heard from him. Not that he'd be likely to contact anyone. Even though he hadn't been working very long before he had to leave, it still seems as though, without him, that not everything is being completed. Although that may be my fault...

It looks like Fullmetal will be around a lot more often - he's going to start working full time. It'll be nice to have the extra help, and I'm going to make sure I take full advantage of the situation.

Well all of the sudden, I'm feeling much better. After being indisposed for such a long time, I've think that my recent recovery is cause for a small celebration; lunch perhaps.
Fullmetal, I hope that our plans have remained unchanged, as I think I should be able to get some time off during the next week or so. I'll treat, of course. Additionally, I have some things I need to...discuss with you, so I was hoping that we could plan for a day when both of our schedules are relatively open.

I recently sent a pair of lovely platform shoes to Fullmetal, and he stopped by this morning to thank me for being so considerate. We then spent the afternoon at a cafe near by and walked back together. Unfortunately, Fullmetal got sick and collapsed, and was lucky I caught him in time. I ended up helping him back to the military building, and because of that I had to stay late to finish my paperwork.
I hope you're feeling better now, Fullmetal. Oh, and do they fit alright?

I overheard one of my subordinates talking about this, and I decided that it's investigation took priority over my paper work...that may just be an excuse, but this looks like fun, and it appears that Fullmetal has a journal...
This may indeed prove to be a better use of my time then the busy work I was doing before. I'll have Second Lieutenant Breda finish it up for me--I have a date tonight. |
